  All about Bayou Rescue.
Bayou Rescue provides disaster relief and rescue response for animals and their caretakers, locally and nationally. We provide the following services:

+ Trained volunteers at disaster sites
+ Emergency supplies and replacement pet items to disaster areas and individual families
+ Coordination of foster care or boarding for displaced pets
+ Coordination of missing pet searches
+ Community outreach and education about disaster preparedness

Bayou Rescue formed in response to Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Since then, we've reponded to a variety of incidents, big and small, around the country and around the corner. We've worked on hoarding cases, hurricane responses, apartment fires and plenty more. We've also responded when no disaster is present at all thorugh our outreach efforts to educate the community about the importance of having an emergency plan in place that includes pets. All of our work is made possible by generous donations of time and money from people like you.

Our board would be the first to tell you that nothing is possible without the dedicated volunteers that keep everything moving along at a steady clip. The board is currently guiding Bayou Rescue through a period of exciting growth and renewed focus on what was originally most important to the organization: helping out where there's a need. It started with being a part of one of the largest domestic disaster responses ever. We met lots of people, learned a lot and formed lasting relationships with agencies across the country. We're now collaborating more than ever on the local and regional levels in ways that will allow us to spread the message of emergency preparedness across the 100 counties of North Carolina and beyond. The foundation of our efforts is a strong commitment to aid on a local level — it's where everything begins for Bayou Rescue.
